Because Glory holes are wrong.

Hey invisible dudes.

So I'm sitting in class, just bought a new book, still got 50 pages left of Dreams from my father but might try and finish that one later today(I did). I bought '50 philosophy ideas' as it had a 20% discount and felt that the oppertunity was too good to miss. Not really, was just really intresting so I wanted it. I'll be a wicked philosopher by next week (lol) so look out for the epicness of future posts.

So there's a new film coming out soon (?) featuring Zooey Deschanel and that young guy from 10 things I hate about you and third rock. It's called 500 days of summer and it looks all kinds of super. Youtube trailer below! The first shot in the trailer features 3rd rock from the sun dude in an elevator (love elevator scenes, forced intimacy, but not like in a rapey sort of way, infact, perhaps intimate isnt the right word. never mind) So Zooey gets on, or is she already on?

She likes the Smiths, he is amazed, shocked etc.

tis epic.

just shut up and watch.

really feelin the Regina Spector song at the start.

Manners just leaked, check it out. Passion Pit are relentless.

Such a lovely day, so unexpected.

..Words from Michael MacIntyre.

So today is wickedly warm, just sat out on the balcony reading, gonna go back out after I've had some food. Gonna try n get some colour about this pale Scottish skin of mine. I'll let you know how it goes.

Dreams from my father is so far a very intresting read, Barack has proved himself to be a great writer and even greater at analysing situations to make sense of them. The dude has such a great sense of right and wrong it amazes me, it appear's sometimes he can let his emotions get the better of him resulting in making some bad disisions or poor remarks but no one is perfect. I certainly will keep reading and have no intention of stopping, I keep wondering to myself 'which do I enjoy more? reading fact or fiction books' I'm not sure, I'm thinking Fact though. Purely because I get several things out of books which are relevant and factual, such as knowledge, a sense as if your time isnt perhaps being wasted, an introduction and insight into certain historical characters or situations (did I cover that with knowledge?).

Soundtrack today is the new LP from Fightstar, sounds ok on first couple of listens, but overall it sounds slightly more poppy than their work. Charlie Simpson's voice gets grating quite quickly but he does have a good voice. Other than that, I'm hungry and wishing my food would quick faster. Here's a song..

give it a few listens.

Such a good song.

Somewhere.

I love reading just as much as the next worm, but I find it hard to get myself in the right state of mind for a read. Do you get me?

Is it just me or is it hard to read in your own house? Well, for me it is. It just doesnt feel right. Sitting in silence reading in a big empty house, for most I think this is perhaps a perfect setting. I for one like to read when I'm somewhere or going somewhere (what?). Book's take you somewhere, somewhere that isnt home. I like to be transported to another place, away from the dull truths that surround this place. I actually cant give a definitive reason for my reading habits. I want to be somewhere which is open like my mind while I read from the pages of a new book. When I say open, I essentially mean just out there, be it a train, a coffee shop, a book store. Somewhere where you look around and see other people being transported, going somewhere.

Having hope is about having somewhere you want to go.

It's fun to be pretentious.

I'm a little bored.

So I'm bored today. Got a bit further ahead with my modeling for 3d class but other than that its been pretty sour.

boring days aside...got a listen to We Were Promised Jetpacks debut the other day. Not bad at all, already heard most of the songs a bunch of times already, to the point where I dont particularly want to hear them again. Infact, Moving Clocks Run Slow demo is waaay better than the newly recorded album version. But since I got to hear Thunder and Lightning for the first time when I listened to the LP I'm happy. The track is amense, such a great song to sing along to, the drums at the peak of the song are incredible, INCREDIBLE. If someone were to ask you to play them a song which was the empitomy of epic, then this would be it (in a scottish/indie/folkish rock kinda way).
I'm sure youve heard people bang on about Quiet Little Voices, its good, but not as good as some may make it out to be.

Frightenned Rabbit were praised all over the blogs and hipster site's but never quite got the recognition they deserved in terms of album sales and mainstream popularity. We Were Promised Jetpacks may take this type of music to the masses.

Oft!

I sooo want these trainers, aint too sure on what the availability will be for these little guys but shiiiit there awesome.

What you think?

Men in suits with Prostitutes

Good lyric for an Arctic Monkeys song? hells yeah.

So just got up ten minutes ago, I still feel like crap since the weekends drinking was extreme. I wish I felt like doing Uni work which I soo badly need to do, but truth be told, nah, that just aint what I'm gonna do. Perhaps stick on some shorts head down for a coffee and contemplate buying a new pair of trainers, Supra or nike high tops? I just dont know. Could also jump into Waterstones and read the first chapter of every book before deciding that I dont care to read on.

I'll be honest here, Ive been checking Twin Atlantic's drummer's blog for the past week or so in hope of I dont know what, I just wanna hear new stuff from these guys acc! If only that dude I met who had all the lofi demo's was a bit more generous!! It's weird as I havent liked a band's music this much since Bloc Party back in 04, shit I just relised how long ago that is.

Reasons probably being that my mate Andy from Uni introduced me to them back in summer 07 when they had played about 2 gigs and had you are the forest up on their myspace. Sort of watched them grow, but you know what they say, your hardest on the ones ye love so perhaps I will be disapointed when this album comes around. I mean, that first EP was absolutly rocking and to top the energy/production in those songs is gonna take some job. John Travis are you the guy for the job?

Right now I dont think so, I mean 'The Answer' 'Kid Rock' and now, Twin Atlantic, hmm, I'm sorta glad Romesh isnt producing it though as I think he dropped the ball with 'What is Light, Where is Laughter?'. The production felt so thin, definetly not mixed right, the vocal overdubs sucked, bass wasnt loud enough as usual. I'm guessing the slower tempo of the recorded version was Twin Atlantic's call, but it wasnt the right one, I dont think, it lost alot of its energy and charm. No?

Much faster, 100x more energy, louder bass, (I'm aware its live but you get the picture) plus Sam's guitar tone is much better here, bit more dirty and raw than the sucky sound you get in the What is Light single.

Let me know whatcha think..

DubStepRadio1

So there I was, hottest day of the year (perhaps) sitting in city barbers getting my hair cut by what looked like a relative of Artur Boruc. Radio1 was the soundtrack to this event, more specifically a White Lies song (shite) a Sarah Barrelelsuiesisis song (or however you spell it) along with some other similarly shit artists. BUT, even more specifically, a song called 'In for the Kill' by La Roux (remixed by SCREAM) came on, a Dubstep remix of a pop song, 3pm on a thursday afternoon on radio1, bizzare maybe? But holy fucking shit. The song absolutly rocks!!!! Everyone must hear it.

And that means you aswell.

Songs 2 listen 2 2day part 2

I am fully aware that two of these songs are fairly old. That's ok, that's just how it works around here.

Night for real this time.

Dougie and The Viponds

Really though, its Marina and the Diamonds.

Enjoying her weird pop music.

Pop music need not be a dirty word.

Night all.

So I have learned so very little..

Hello people of Earth, how r y'all? That whole thing with me asking 'how are you' etc is getting old eh? I'm really trying to reach out and make you feel as if I care how you feel, when in reality I am a celebrity who doesnt give a shit about you.

I kid. I'm not a celebrity and I do care about how you feel.

Is that a dig at celebrity's?

No, infact it really isnt. So what is the point in the rant?

Good Question.

Nothing.

So I'm typing this while I listen to The Open Door EP which is really growing on me. It's a great collection of songs that 'didnt fit with Narrow Stairs'. Do you think thats why? Or do you think that Chris Walla was having none of it? Chris was like 'Fuck No Ben, not this time, you suck'.

I think that wasnt how it went down.

Infact, I believe these songs to be on the same level if not slightly higher than the level of its Big Brother 'Narrow'. Casino Blues, or whatever its called now is a great uptempo song and one of the two stand out tracks from the EP. The other song being 'I was once a loyal lover', imo one of the best things Ben has done in a long time, apparently Nick Harmer (the sound, coolest guy in DCFC, small bearish-looking bass player) help write the song. Impressive.

The EP may not be very imediate but give it time, its a grower.

Till next time readers..
Take it Weezy
